new york, new york!
Hi from the airport in New York! Here are some things I have done this week which have been truly brilliant:
- Got a custom fragrance from The Fragrance Shop , which Gala Darling, one of my favorite bloggers, so highly recommended! It smells so lovely — like lavender & vanilla and some other brilliant blend of warm & sweet (yet light!) fragrances. Now nobody in the whole, entire world will smell like me — ever again! Ha! It was incredibly inexpensive, too: just a one-time mixing fee of $10 & then $21 for a roller-ball bottle full. I’m in love; I can’t stop smelling my wrists (both covertly & unashamedly!)
- Found the perfect red-orange lipstick! It’s MAC’s “Lady Danger,” and it is the actual best. I am truly enamored. I went into the MAC store in SoHo & said, “I need a bright lipstick which is going to flatter my skintone, please!” and the fellow was so kind & helpful! He even put on my lipliner for me — my lips have never been so well-defined; I can definitely tell you that much!
- Shopped! Oh, how I’ve shopped! I’ve gotten two pencil skirts, a pair of jeans, a sheer lacy black top (Ooh la la!), a sun-dress, and a brilliant fedora with feathers on the side! If my bank account weren’t suffering so drastically right now, you had better believe I would still be shopping, because swoon.
- Walked. Walked, and walked, and walked some more. It’s so nice not to have to rely on a car to get me places! My two feet & the subway have taken me from one side of this island to the other, and back again countless times this week.
- Perspired Profusely. (Dig my alliteration?!) Evidently, a couple of days ago was the hottest day New York has had on record. Ever. Ever. (!!!) I constantly had a nice sheen of sweat all over my body — also, a pointer: do not wear new, unwashed denim if you plan to sweat. My legs are blue. I should start singing that Eiffel 65 song. (Just kidding — you don’t want me to sing!)
And now I’m on the way home! I’m really excited. I had so much trouble at the Atlanta airport on my way here, and I’m hoping that I won’t spend 9 hours (nine!) at an airport any time soon … or ever again, really. Cross your fingers for my standby ticket & me: we need it dearly!
I wish I had taken photos, but sadly my camera died on the first day … and my charger is in a warehouse in Athens. Ha! Talk about luck. So for now, you’ll just have to use your imagination. :-)
Hope you’re well! x
